Thai warned not to abuse the exemption of visa for Japan
The warning came after the assault of a number of Thai visitors franchise without a visa to enter Japan illegally and work there.
Since July 1, Japan admitted free visas for tourists from Thailand who wish to stay in the country up to 15 days. The decision by a sharp increase in the number of tourists and about 200 of them reportedly entered Japan with a view to overstay and are looking for work.
The warning issued today that any Thais who want to stay in Japan must apply for a visa before entering Japan. If you have entered Japan under the visa-free arrangement and face untoward incident that forces them to stay in, and they should contact the immigration authorities 15 days before the end.
If you have stayed in Japan without a visa extension, they would be considered illegal. "If they find that staying illegally in Japan, they will be deported and banned from returning for a period ranging between five to ten years immediately. If all goes the case to court and sentenced to imprisonment for a term, they will be banned for life, provided the warning.
Japanese authorities have decided so far against the abolition of the exemption of visa for Thai tourists as the situation is under control. The Bureau urged Thais respect the privilege of visa-free and refrain from breaking the rules, which could sour the relationship end up in Bangkok with Tokyo.
Japan eased visa requirements for a number of countries in Southeast Asia this year, as part of efforts to boost tourism strategy to promote economic growth in the country.
